Many Eyes- A Data Visualization Tool
Many Eyes is a cool and simple service on the web, that let's you visualize and explore data.It's an IBM product.
On Many Eyes you can:
- View and discuss visualizations
- View and discuss data sets
- Create visualizations from existing data sets
Any kind of data set you upload is visible for the community.
Steps to be followed:
- Register with a valid email id. Once you are registered, login with your credentials.
- Under the participate tab, choose create visualization.
- You have to start with a data set. You have two choices: To use existing data set or to upload your own data set.
If your data is a list of values, first format it into a table with informative column headers. If your columns have different units of measure, be sure to include the units in the headers.

- Check that if your data has been properly interpreted. You can change the data type from the drop-down list provided.
- Give the title for the data and other information in the following screen. Click on create.
The final data set will look as follows:
Click on Visualize to select the type of visualization you want for your data. For example, I have chosen "Line graph" for which the visualization is shown as below:
Wide range of customization options are available and one can choose different options as per one's requirement. Several other visualization types like bubble charts, hisograms, network diagrams, pie charts, etc. are available as well.
Pros:
- Need not be downloaded and installed
- Just needs a java enabled browser
- Its a free software
- Wide variety of visualizations are available
Cons:
- Data can be viewed by others
